Grey’s Awarded Coach Manager of the Year

These were held on 7th November at the Birmingham Hilton Metropole hotel. With 771 guests in attendance this is one of the Coach industries largest and most prestigious events.

The event was hosted by RouteOne Editor, Mike Morgan and the awards were presented by Maggie Philbin (of Tomorrows World fame).

Nomination Process

This was the eighth event and represented a record level of nominations from manufacturers, dealers and the supply side of the industry, to name who they regard as the top operators in the UK.

These nominations were then judged on the basis of an initial submission and a shortlist of finalists drawn up. Next a more detailed examination of the finalists, including visits and interviews where appropriate. The judging panel made their final decision, however the winners were not made aware until the night.

Finalist in 3 Categories

This was Grey's of Ely's first year at the awards and we found ourselves finalists in 3 categories, a first for any Cambridgeshire Operator!

• Medium Size Coach Operator of the Year
• Richard Grey for Coach Manager of the Year

Winner of Coach Manager of the Year!

Richard Grey won Coach Manager of the Year, having been selected as a finalist against 9 of his industry peers, who all display the highest levels of business acumen from Coach Hire companies through out the UK.

The Judges commendation was, "The Judges really did agonise over this one. However, the casting vote went to a manager who has clearly demonstrated that he thrives on learning new skills and meeting difficult challenges. In particular his keen and energetic approach to new technology has taken his company to new levels."
